City offices are closed in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

When a holiday occurs on Saturday or Sunday, government offices typically observe that holiday on either the Friday or Monday closest to the holiday but this can vary.

Christmas holiday

Christmas Day is one of eleven federal holidays recognized nationwide by the United States government. All non-essential government offices are closed on Christmas Day.

In Menlo Park, Christmas Eve is also an observed city holiday as part of negotiated labor agreements. City holidays may be observed on a different date if they fall on a closed Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Holidays may also be observed on different dates if they fall during other City Hall closures.

Many private-sector employees will also receive paid time off or special holiday pay on Christmas Day.
