The Annual National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024. 

In communities and neighborhoods throughout Menlo Park and the nation, neighbors join together in a combined effort to:

  • Increase crime prevention and awareness
  • Generate support and participation in local neighborhood watch programs
  • Strengthen the partnership between the community and police
  • Inform criminals that neighborhoods are connected and fighting back

Register your 2024 National Night Out block party

  1. All block parties and events for National Night Out must be registered through the Police Department. Complete the online registration form for your party/event.
  2. For all parties and events that involve street closures, an online special events permit form is also required.

Please complete one or both of these forms, as needed, to participate and be recognized as a 2024 National Night Out event.

Will the Police Chief visit my block party?

The Police Chief and other officers try to visit every registered block party and greet everyone. You must register your block party in advance. 

Is there a cost to plan a block party for National Night Out?

There is no cost to register your National Night Out event through the Police Department; however, if you plan to close a street, there is a cost to close the street. For block street closures, you are required to complete an online special events permit.

Do I need insurance for my party?

Generally, insurance is only required if the event will close down a street (special permit required). Please contact us for more information.

What type of activities should I have at my block party?

Suggested activities include:

  • Start a neighborhood watch program
  • Ice cream social
  • BBQ
  • Potluck
  • Collections for a food bank or other charities
  • Sidewalk chalk-art contest
  • Three-legged races
  • Basketball contests
  • Volleyball games
  • Carnival games
  • Bounce house
  • Water games

  • Outside movie
