Each of us can do our part to make sure that we continue to recycle, gain knowledge and educate one another on the benefits of recycling. That's what America Recycles Day - observed Nov. 15 - is all about. Did you know that the recycling rate has increased from less than 7% in 1960 to the current rate of 32%. To build on our progress, The Environmental Protection Agency encourages everyone to contribute by recycling right, not only on America Recycles Day, but all year long.

Everyone can learn what is accepted in their recycling bin. Items like cardboard, metal cans, and paper are commonly accepted by local curbside programs, and items like plastic bags, electronics and batteries do NOT go in the curbside recycling bin. Visit the Recology website to learn what goes where.
