Join us on May 6 at the Belle Haven Community Campus and on May 8 on Zoom for workshops to learn about home electrification and share your input on local building code updates that could take effect in 2026. Menlo Park’s Climate Action Plan aims to electrify 95% of existing buildings. Electrification, or converting gas appliances to clean, efficient, modern electric ones, is critical to eliminate carbon emissions and improve our community’s air quality. Buildings make up a significant portion of Menlo Park’s emissions, and moving away from gas-powered systems is an important way to tackle the climate crisis together. The City is already working to promote voluntary electrification, including waiving permit fees for electrification projects and funding whole-home electrification for eligible Belle Haven Residents. By updating the building codes, the City can ensure all residents receive the same quality appliances and air quality improvements.
We’re seeking your feedback as we explore the options for new building code amendments.
