At the annual reorganization of the City Council on Dec. 10, the City Council chose a new mayor and vice mayor to serve in these roles for the next year. Congratulations to Mayor Drew Combs and Vice Mayor Betsy Nash for being selected by their colleagues!

During the meeting, the City Council also adopted a resolution declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held in the City of Menlo Park Nov. 5. New City Councilmembers Jeff Schmidt, District 3, and Jennifer Wise, District 5, were sworn in and outgoing City Councilmembers, Jen Wolosin and Maria Doerr, were honored for their many contributions to Menlo Park during their terms of service. The City Council also honored City Councilmember Cecilia Taylor for serving as mayor for the past year.

Elections results also included the approval of Measure CC. We want to thank our community for their approval of this ballot measure to increase Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT). The enactment of Measure CC will provide locally controlled funding to address our community-identified priorities, and as a reminder, TOT is not a tax on Menlo Park residents who are not hotel or short-term rental guests.
