Residents invited to attend disaster preparedness day

Residents are invited to the 18th Annual Disaster Preparedness Day on July 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the San Mateo County Event Center. Join San Mateo County first responders and community leaders to celebrate the theme - prepare, survive and recover! This is a free event for the community.

Experience interactive demonstrations, emergency vehicles, first responders, informative workshops and activities for kids! Community resource tables will be on-site to provide information and resources to develop your own preparedness plans.

Activities include

  • Explore fire trucks
  • Sit in a helicopter and imagine what it would be like to fly
  • Visit an emergency shelter
  • Visit the resource table
  • See how CERT teams work and participate in the Stanford Blood Center blood drive
  • Learn CPR and save a life in the future
  • Visit the Zonehaven booth to find out what you need to know during an evacuation
