Construction of the San Mateo County project, Santa Cruz Avenue / Alameda de las Pulgas Complete Streets Project, will soon be underway.

In late 2020, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved the Santa Cruz Avenue / Alameda de las Pulgas Complete Streets Project:

  • Alameda de las Pulgas from Avy Avenue to Santa Cruz Avenue: Enhance existing sidewalk and bicycle lanes by reducing the section down to one vehicle lane per direction with a two-way center left turn lane.
  • Santa Cruz Avenue from Alameda de las Pulgas to Sand Hill Road: Enhance existing sidewalk and add new bicycle lanes by removing one of the two southbound vehicular lanes.

The County had since completed the design, secured the necessary funds and retained a contractor for the construction phase of this project.

Construction is tentatively set to start the week of Sept. 16. City staff will continue to communicate with County staff to minimize neighborhood disturbances to the best of their abilities.
