City Council to discuss Coleman Avenue Pilot Project on April 29
Published on April 21, 2025
At the upcoming April 29 meeting, Menlo Park City Council will take action on the proposed parking removal from the north side of Coleman Avenue to add a bike lane and installation of stop signs on Coleman Avenue at Santa Monica Avenue.
At the October 22, 2024, City Council meeting, City Council approved proceeding with a pilot project to improve safety and mobility on the City’s portion of Coleman Avenue (from Willow Road to Riordan Place).
Council will now consider the following improvements:
- Parking removal on the north side of the City’s portion of Coleman Avenue from Willow Road to the city/county boundary.
- Installation of stop signs on Coleman Avenue at Santa Monica Avenue to provide clear right-of-way designation for those crossing Coleman Avenue. This will facilitate access to bus stops.
- Traffic calming to reduce driver speeds.
- Pilot bike lane to improve mobility and accessibility.
Coleman Avenue is a corridor used by many people, including students, to bike and walk between neighborhoods and schools, including Laurel Lower Campus, Menlo-Atherton High School and Laurel Upper Campus. These proposed improvements would improve safety for people biking, walking and driving.
Join the City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 29, at 6 p.m. at City Council Chambers (751 Laurel St.) or via Zoom to participate and share your feedback on this agenda item.
