MPPD awarded $75,000 grant to increase road safety

Free Household Hazardous Waste Event Nov. 9

Help protect against West Nile Virus

Another dead bird collected in San Mateo County has tested positive for West Nile virus. Residents have reported over 409 birds so far this year, of which 124 were in appropriate condition for testing. Of the over 5,000 mosquitoes tested in 2024, none have tested positive for West Nile virus in San Mateo County. However, West Nile virus has been found in mosquitoes in other counties in California.

Beware of telephone scammers posing as police

The Menlo Park Police Department wants to alert the public to ongoing phone scams in which suspects pose as members of law enforcement to trick victims into giving them money or personal information. The scams have variations. Menlo Park Police Officers are not going to call and threaten or ask for financial information.

Stay safe: Drive sober and watch for trick-or-treaters this Halloween

As Halloween approaches, people of all ages are getting ready to head out for trick-or-treating fun. To make sure the holiday stays as safe as it is festive, Menlo Park Police Department has put together a set of safety tips for parents, kids, and drivers. Also, extra traffic enforcement for DUI for alcohol and/or drugs will be on hand.

Police participate in Pink Patch Project for Breast Cancer Awareness

The Menlo Park Police Department will participate in the Pink Patch Project this October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Menlo Park Police Department also has patches for sale for $10 each with 100% of the proceeds going to the Bay Area Cancer Connections organization.

Update: The National Weather Service has upgraded the heat advisory for our area to an Excessive Heat Warning through 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. -- A heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, until 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Take precautions now to avoid heat illness. Designated cooling centers are open daily.
