Effective July 1, 2026, the City of Menlo Park will implement an updated Master Fee Schedule approved by the City Council. Updates include revised permit fees and a new payment processing fee.

Through the Below Market Rate (BMR) housing program, the city funds the development of new affordable housing units, manages a portfolio of BMR ownership units and works with property owners to advertise available BMR rental units.

Below Market Rate (BMR) housing program

Below Market Rate units can be available for rent or purchase. BMR sale and rent prices are based on what is affordable to eligible households. BMR units remain affordable over time to provide financial stability for various income levels and household sizes.

Housing Commission

The Housing Commission is charged primarily with advising the City Council on housing matters including housing supply and housing related problems.

Home repairs assistance

If you have a house in need of repair, there are government and nonprofit-sponsored programs that can help those who qualify. These programs are not for those who simply want to remodel their home—these programs are for people who need them to help obtain and/or maintain safe and sanitary housing for themselves and their families.

Housing Element

The housing element is one of seven state-mandated elements of the city’s General Plan. Housing element law requires local governments to adequately plan to meet their existing and projected housing needs including their share of the regional housing need.
