Human Resources

Human Resources is a division of the Administrative Services Department that provides and administers services to all City departments in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws. Services include:


Human Resources organizes and coordinates the employee recruitment, screening and selection process. The goal for this service is to assure equal opportunity employment for all citizens and applicants.

Employee benefits

The City offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time and some part-time employees. The package includes medical, vision and dental coverage, participation in the California Public Employee Retirement System, flexible spending accounts and paid vacation, sick and holiday leave. For specific benefit package information, please refer to the respective bargaining unit labor agreements.

Employee records

Human Resources maintains all employee information, records and files.

Safety and risk management

The City has an occupational and work place safety training program. Additional parts of this service are evaluating accidents, administering the workers compensation program and other support services to enhance work place safety.
