Safe Routes to School program

Menlo Park's Safe Routes to Schools program aims to enhance the safety of students accessing all schools that serve Menlo Park residents.

The City leads prepared and coordinates implementation of a Safe Routes to Schools plan with a focus on gathering input and feedback from school officials, students, parents and residents near schools.

Bike to Library Day event

This year's Spring Party is themed as a "Bike to the Library" event to celebrate Bike Month. The event will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Main Library (800 Alma St), from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Come join all the fun after school, activities include a skills course, helmet giveaways, bike repair station, churro vendor, SamTrans bus display, and more! For more information, including how to sign up for the skills course, please visit the event page

Citywide walk and roll map

While there are individual School Walk and Roll maps that are customized for each school, there is also a citywide map to help facilitate longer trips across the City. The map displays bicycle lanes, walking paths, the Peninsula Bikeway, SamTrans routes, traffic signals and schools.

Staying safe around train tracks

The Caltrain corridor crosses Menlo Park in four locations: Encinal Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, Oak Grove Avenue, and Ravenswood Avenue. Whether you are biking or walking, be sure to stay alert and pay attention to gate crossings to cross the tracks safely. Additionally with Caltrain adding electric train service in September 2024, please be cautious of the overhead wires as they carry 25,000 volts of electricity. To learn more, please visit Caltrain's electrification safety website and student resources website.
