A new batch of appointments are now available for children ages 5 to 11 to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the “Playland”-themed clinic at the San Mateo County Event Center. Operated by San Mateo County, the clinic offers the COVID-19 vaccine in a kid-friendly setting that invokes Candy Land and other amusements along with superheroes and more for entertainment.

The “Playland” vaccine clinic will be open:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Appointments are required through the MyTurn website. Those making appointments should search by the Event Center address (1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo) and choose “SMC Health- Event Center- Pediatric (5-11 yrs. old).” Those driving to appointments will enter and exit through Gate 8 on Saratoga Drive and will be directed to park in a specified area.

A medical provider will be on-site at the children’s clinic to answer parents’ questions. Local pharmacies, including CVS, Safeway, Lucky Supermarkets and Walgreens offer vaccines for the 5-11 year-old group at some of their locations.
