Give back to your community! Donate your gently used children’s book
Published on November 29, 2021
Give the gift of reading this holiday season! Menlo Park Library is accepting all new/gently used children’s and teens books through Dec. 31, 2021. All books will be given to the nonprofit organization, Children's Book Project, to benefit children who need them for equity in literacy, learning and life in San Mateo County and neighboring counties.
Children’s Book project aims to create a more socially just world by providing books for free to under-resourced children. Literacy attainment is directly tied to academic achievement and lifetime outcomes, yet children in economically disadvantaged communities do not have the same access to books as their more affluent peers. The Children’s Book Project is committed to closing the opportunity gap and lifting up our community by raising readers.
We welcome donations of new and like new books for children ages 0-18 that reflect the needs of the communities we serve, especially:
- books featuring characters of color
- board books
- beginning readers
- early chapter books
- books in Spanish or Chinese (all ages)
- graphic novels
To donate new/gently used books please place your donations in the big blue box just inside the Menlo Park Library entrance at 800 Alma St.
