San Mateo County opens new funding to help Microfood Businesses
Published on December 06, 2021
The San Mateo County board of supervisors recently approved a new round of grants to help microfood businesses that have not received any assistance from the County, State or Federal COVID-19-relief programs in the past 12 months. The food industry was hit hard by COVID-19 and this latest relief package includes new emergency funds for small-scale food-service entrepreneurs such as food truck operators and other small business hit hard by the pandemic.
The Microfood Business Grant program will provide grants of $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000 to each selected business, depending on the type of business. Qualifying establishments can use the funds to offset losses in revenue and past debt due to the COVID-19 pandemic state shutdown orders beginning in March 2020, ensure continued operation, and assist in covering current business operating expenses.
The application portal is now open until Friday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m. For more information visit the San Mateo County Strong webpage or contact San Mateo County staff.
