As we head into wet weather season, the City is prepared for upcoming winter weather and closely monitors the weather forecast for potential storms and heavy rainstorms. Residents can pick up sand and empty bags to prepare for winter storms. Please remember to bring a shovel.

Menlo Park has two sandbag stations at the following locations:

  1. Burgess Park parking lot at Alma Street and Burgess Drive
  2. Fire Station 77 at 1467 Chilco St.

Please remember, when driving through flooded streets, it is dangerous and may push water into yards, homes and businesses. If there’s no need to be out, stay safe at home.

  • Do not drive into flooded areas. If floodwaters rise around your car, abandon the car and move to higher ground if you can do so safely.
  • Play it safe. If your car stalls in rapidly rising waters, get out immediately and climb to higher ground.
  • Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars causing loss of control and possible stalling.
  • A foot of water will float many vehicles
  • Two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles including sport utility vehicles (SUV’s) and pick-ups.
  • Don't drive flooded roads. Water depth is not always obvious. The road bed may be washed out under the water or worse
  • Do not drive around a barricade. Barricades are there for your protection. Turn around and go the other way.
