Notice of Preparation to be released for the Housing Element Update
Published on December 20, 2021
The City of Menlo Park is updating its Housing Element. The Housing Element Update will reach a milestone with this week's upcoming release of the Notice of Preparation, a required component of environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Notice of Preparation will be available on the Housing Element Update webpage. A hard copy will also be available for review at the Menlo Park Library and Belle Haven Branch Library. Interested parties should inquire at the library information desk.
Residents and interested parties are encouraged to review the Notice of Preparation and participate in a Jan. 24, 2022, Planning Commission scoping meeting, to provide comments on the Notice of Preparation and the content of the subsequent Environmental Impact Report that will be prepared for the Housing Element Update.
The public review period for the Notice of Preparation runs from Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 through Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. Written comments must be submitted no later than 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. Written comments must be submitted by email to Acting Principal Planner Tom Smith or by letter to Tom Smith, Community Development, 701 Laurel St., Menlo Park, CA 94025. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, email correspondence is preferred.
Following the close of the public review period, the City will prepare a draft Environmental Impact Report that will consider all the comments received during the scoping meeting and written comments submitted.
We want your input! Throughout the Housing Element Update process, the City will be seeking input through a variety of engagement opportunities to learn from the community about what matters to you.
