The City of Menlo Park is updating its required Housing Element and Safety Element, and preparing a new Environmental Justice Element. Collectively, these are referred to as the "Housing Element Update" project. Housing Elements are required to be updated every eight years by the State of California. The 2023-2031 Menlo Park Housing Element will create a foundation for all the policies and programs related to housing within the City’s General Plan.

On Jan. 12, 2023, the Planning Commission and Housing Commission will hold a joint meeting to consider and make recommendations to the City Council on the proposed 2023-2031 Housing Element. The Planning Commission will also consider and make a recommendation to the City Council on the Final Subsequent Environmental Impact Report prepared for the Housing Element Update project. The Planning Commission and Housing Commission staff report will be released Friday, Jan. 6.

Visit the Housing Element Update webpage to review the Final Subsequent Environmental Impact Report and the draft 2023-2031 Housing Element, available Tuesday, Jan. 3 and Friday, Jan. 6, respectively. Paper copies will be available for public review in the Menlo Park Library at 800 Alma St. and at the Belle Haven Branch Library at 413 Ivy Drive. Please join our email list to stay up to date on the project.
