Upcoming Environmental Justice, Safety and Housing Element meetings

 The City of Menlo Park is updating its required Housing Element and Safety Element and preparing a new Environmental Justice Element. Collectively, these are referred to as the "Housing Element Update."

Environmental Justice and Safety Elements

In December 2022, the city released the draft Environmental Justice and Safety Elements. In February 2023, the city held community meetings at the Belle Haven Branch Library to present the draft elements, review community feedback and gather more community input. The city encourages community members to participate in an upcoming meeting to continue receiving feedback from decision-makers and residents.

Upcoming Joint City Council and Planning Commission Meeting

  • Topic: Study session to provide an overview of the elements, gather community input, and discuss next steps.
  • Date: Tuesday, June 20, at 6 p.m.
  • Location: City Council Chambers (751 Laurel St.), Belle Haven Branch Library (413 Ivy Dr. – satellite location), and Zoom

Access the meeting in person at the Belle Haven Branch Library, 413 Ivy Dr., where the meeting will be shown live on a big screen using Zoom video conference technology (Spanish interpretation available).

Housing Element

In January, the city adopted the 2023-2031 Housing Element. Since then, the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) acknowledged that Menlo Park's Housing Element addresses many statutory requirements; however, additional changes were requested and the city is addressing the feedback. Community members are invited to participate in an upcoming meeting to review the proposed changes to the Housing Element.

  • Date: Tuesday, June 27, at 6 p.m.
