At the Sept. 12 City Council Meeting, Menlo Park Mayor Jen Wolosin recognized September as National Service Dog Month. Service dogs are specially trained to perform specific tasks for people with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Service dogs also provide support to our nation’s wounded warriors who are suffering from conditions such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. We also recognize the trainers that thoroughly prepare service dogs to effectively and safely provide essential assistance and companionship.

This proclamation highlights the benefits of service dogs and the laws protecting them, as well as the invaluable impact service dogs have on the lives of people living with disabilities in Menlo Park.
