Tree at curbside

Holiday tree collection will take place starting the week of Jan. 2 on your regularly scheduled pick-up day. Reminder to remove all stands, ornaments and lights from your tree. Place trees next to your green compost cart for collection. Trees larger than eight feet will need to be cut in half in order to be collected. Please remember to keep trees out of bike lanes and out of the storm gutter.

Holiday tree composting guidelines:

  • Remove all decorations, such as lights, tinsel, tree stands and nails. Flocked trees are accepted.
  • Place tree next to your green compost cart.
  • Larger trees (over eight feet) should be cut into pieces and placed next to or inside the green compost cart.

After Jan. 31, please cut the tree to fit inside your compost cart (lid must be closed) or contact www.Recology.com/Recology-San-Mateo-County/ at 650-595-3900 for a special pickup.

Apartment and condo managers or owners must call 650-595-3900 to arrange for holiday tree collection for their tenants. Holiday trees shall be collected in centrally located areas, on-site compost container or in a debris box. Remove all decorations and tree stands.
