Menlo Park achieves American Public Works Association accreditation
Published on February 20, 2024
The City of Menlo Park was awarded accreditation from the American Public Works Association (APWA). The purpose of accreditation is to promote excellence in the operation and management of a public works agency, its programs and its employees. Accreditation is designed to assist the agency in the continuous improvement of operations and management, and in providing a valid and objective evaluation of agency programs as a service to the public and the profession.
“I am proud of the Public Works Department’s dedication to continued learning and improvement, as evidenced by achieving accreditation from APWA. The public works staff works hard to serve our residents and businesses in Menlo Park. This accomplishment showcases that commitment in service to the community,” said City Manager Justin Murphy, City of Menlo Park.
Formally awarded the prestigious accreditation by APWA’s Accreditation Council, the Menlo Park Department of Public Works is the sixteenth agency in the State of California. In addition to Menlo Park, the accredited agencies in California include the cities of Bakersfield, Encinitas, Oakland, Palmdale, Palo Alto, Pasadena, Thousand Oaks, Vallejo and Ventura, the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Orange and San Luis Obispo, the City and County of San Francisco and the San Diego Unified Port District.
