Pile burning at Stanford's Jasper Ridge March 4-8

Published on March 04, 2024

Jasper Ridge

From March 4-8, a pile burning event will take place at Stanford's Jasper Ridge for fuel reduction purposes. Pile burning is a safe, methodical practice to reduce vegetation, also considered a "fuel load," or the amount of combustible material in a particular space. This is a controlled landscape management and wildlife resilience technique. Residents should take note that smoke may be visible but should not be alarmed. 911 operators are also aware of the process, please call for emergencies only. For more details, read Stanford’s report on the event.
