The Menlo Park SRTS Program is holding its third annual poster and video challenge. Students who submit their artwork or video have a chance to win prizes from local businesses.

The Poster Challenge encourages the participation of elementary students from all public and private schools in Menlo Park. Children can team up with friends or siblings to create their poster. The artwork should reflect school travel themes such as different transportation modes families use to commute to school, what they enjoy most of their travel to school, who walks or rolls with them, local Safe Routes heroes, etc. The poster should encourage, inspire and/or convey a message to others about the theme. The prizes include gift certificates to Kepler’s Books and Coldstone Creamery.

Middle and high school students can participate in the Video Challenge. The theme is biking safety and bike etiquette. Whether it is by walking their bicycle on a busy sidewalk, practicing hand signals or yielding to pedestrians in crosswalk, students can share tips on how to stay safe while biking, both for themselves and others. The prizes include gift certificates to Sports Basement and Kepler’s Books.

Examples of past posters and videos from the 2023 winners are posted on the SRTS website.

Students have until May 31, 2024 to submit their poster or video here. For more information, please visit the Safe Routes to School Video and Poster Challenge webpage.
