Heat advisory issued for Tuesday, June 21; cooling centers to open

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Tuesday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid- to upper-90s resulting in an increased risk for those sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
Take care of yourself, loved ones and pets! Check out these heat safety tips:
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Stay in air-conditioned areas or go to an air-conditioned building if you do not have A/C
- Limit outdoor activities during the hottest time of the day
- Do not leave kids or pets in vehicles
- Watch for hot pavement when walking dogs
- Check on relatives and neighbors

In anticipation of the heat, the City of Menlo Park will open the following facilities to the public on Tuesday, June 21, from Noon to 6 p.m., as air-conditioned cooling centers to provide relief from the heat:
- Arrillaga Family Recreation Center, 700 Alma St.
- Belle Haven Branch Library, 413 Ivy Drive
- Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma St.
