Winter safety tips
Published on November 13, 2023
Winter is arriving in Menlo Park! This season, we encourage our community to take extra care to maintain their safety by remaining prepared for winter weather conditions. The County of San Mateo has excellent resources and tips to make sure you and your loved ones are ready for whatever weather this winter brings!
Stay prepared for storms by:
- Checking roof drains and down spouts to make sure they are clear of debris.
- Keeping leaves and yard trimmings out of storm drains and gutters.
- Keeping hazardous materials away from areas that may be subject to flooding.
- Storing emergency supplies (first aid kit, essential medicines, cash, food, non-electric can opener, portable battery-operated radio, flashlights and spare batteries) in air-tight bags and in handy locations.
- Keeping your car fueled/charged. If electric power is cut off, filling stations may not be able to operate.
