The Menlo Park Police Department will begin education and enforcement of the March 24 amendment to City Ordinance No. 11.24 Stopping – Standing – Parking, approved by the Menlo Park City Council.

At the Feb. 25 meeting, Menlo Park City Council heard the introduction of an ordinance amending Title 11 of the municipal code to revise sections related to stopping, parking and standing for vehicles and establishing parking restrictions for oversized vehicles. The ordinance was then amended and adopted at the March 24 Menlo Park City Council meeting.

Ordinance No. 11.24 has been updated, prohibiting parking a vehicle at any time between the hours of 2 – 5 a.m. in a public parking lot, including parking lots serving parks and recreation facilities.

In addition, new code language defines an oversized vehicle and outlines parking prohibitions, including restrictions on parking between 2 – 5 a.m., consistent with §11.24.050 night parking.

Police will begin issuing vehicles in violation of the codes, a printed “courtesy notice” with information about the updated overnight parking ordinance. Beginning June 15, the police department will begin enforcing the updated city ordinances with citations for vehicles in violation of this ordinance.
