Police investigating an armed robbery

Menlo Park, Calif. — On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of a robbery that occurred near the railroad tracks at Bayfront Expressway (Highway 84) in the City of Menlo Park.

Responding officers located two female victims (a 35-year-old and 39-year-old both of East Palo Alto), in the 1300 block of Willow Road who reported they were victims of a robbery. The victims stated that they were walking west on the 1500 block of Willow Road, near the railroad tracks when a black male adult, approximately 5'10 to 6'0 tall, dressed in all black with a black ski mask approached them from behind and forcefully removed their personal property.

The suspect allegedly elbowed one of the victims in her stomach and brandished an unknown type of firearm he was holding causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect forcefully took the victim’s purse she was carrying and also took the backpack of the other victim, which contained U.S. currency and other items of personal property. The suspect fled toward the marshland area off of Willow Road.

The victims continued to walk west on Willow Road, and called police when they were at a market in the 1300 block of Willow Road. Officers circulated the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

Menlo Park Fire responded and evaluated the victims. One victim was transported to the hospital with a complaint of pain to her stomach, and was later released from the hospital.
