Reminder: Don’t water 48 hours after rainfall

The recent rain this weekend was a nice surprise for September, but water restrictions remain and the Bay Area is still in a severe drought. Part of the restrictions adopted as part of the Stage 2 drought emergency, include no watering lawns and ornamental landscapes within 48 hours after measurable rainfall (not including trees). 

The Bay Area is enduring a third consecutive year of drought with record-dry conditions in 2022. Our water supplies are in jeopardy, especially if next winter is also dry. We must reduce our water use immediately to ensure we have enough safe, clean drinking water in the future.

Effective May 24, 2022, the State Water Resources Board adopted drought emergency regulations that prohibits certain wasteful water use practices statewide and encourages Californians to monitor their water use more closely while building habits to use water wisely.
