Menlo Park is a part of the South Bayside Waste Management Authority, better known as RethinkWaste, and the public agency recently announced its annual poster contest, which is open to students in grades 3–5 within its local service area. This year’s theme is Everyday Upcycling, which encourages children to show how ordinary items can be turned into something new.

Contest guidelines:

  • Participants must be third to fifth grade students in the RethinkWaste service area
  • Poster must be 8.5 x 11-inch white paper in landscape (horizontal) orientation. No lined paper.
  • No copyrighted material, computer graphics, or characters. Must be all original artwork.
  • All artwork must be 2D and in any medium (paint, markers, color pencils, crayons, etc.)

This year’s contest is for individual students. The winning post will be displayed on a local Recology truck and the top three winners will receive gift packs filled with reusable items.

Submissions are due online by Oct. 7, 2022, by 11:59 p.m. Online applications are now available on the Poster Contest webpage in English and in Spanish.
