Adjust irrigation watering needs for the cold season
Published on December 05, 2022
As the seasons change, so do the watering needs in your yard. Menlo Park Municipal Water wants to remind its customers to get ready for the cold season by reducing your outdoor watering and adjust your sprinkler systems. In the fall, your plants need less than half the water compared to the summer months. In the winter, you can turn off your irrigation altogether and your plants will survive.
The stage 2 drought emergency prohibitions are still in place to help to save water during the drought. Watering between 8 a.m.–6 p.m. and within 48 hours of measurable rainfall is prohibited. To comply with these regulations and to avoid overwatering, the City encourages its customers to install a Rachio Smart Controller to make these adjustments for you and receive an instant rebate. The Rachio Smart Controllers can adjust your irrigation schedule depending on weather conditions and the seasons from your smartphone.
