Starting July 1, the City of Menlo Park will enforce a new ordinance requiring the use of zero emission (manual, electric or battery powered) landscaping equipment, starting with leaf blowers and string trimmers. This ordinance was passed by City Council on July 11, 2023 as part of the City’s Climate Action plan.

Violators could be subject to enforcement actions up to and including monetary fines. Enforcement actions will be imposed on the property owner, not the user of the gas-powered equipment.
