Ravenswood Avenue resurfacing and Bike pilot project

The City will resurface Ravenswood Avenue between El Camino Real and Laurel Street starting this spring. This project involves resurfacing the roadway with new asphalt, adding bulb outs, upgraded curb ramps and concrete medians to improve public safety, ADA accessibility and complete the bike lanes on both sides of the street.

As part of this project, the City will conduct a pilot project to extend the bike lane at Noel Street to Alma Street, a distance of about 300 feet, in place of the existing outside car lane. The City will start this pilot project March 2, 2023, before resurfacing. This will help with gathering data about the benefits and impacts.

Staff will conduct a public survey during the Ravenswood Avenue bike lane pilot to collect data. Staff will then report back to City Council in early May to seek direction on whether to extend the pilot, make it permanent, or return the road to its previous configuration.
