Children walking in autumn

International Walk to School Day is a fun holiday happening in October! Wednesday, Oct. 4, thousands of students and families around the globe will leave the car at home to promote the benefits of walking to school.

Did you know that besides coming together with your community for a fun and safe way of getting to school, events like these are critical to increasing the number of students walking and biking to school? In fact, studies have shown an average 25% increase in walking and bicycling to school over a five-year period due to education and encouragement events, such as International Walk to School Day. After walking for just 20 minutes, students even see improved academic performance!

So, lace up your shoes, grab your coat, and get ready to walk to school on International Walk to School Day and beyond!
