Citywide Bike Rodeo event kicks off Bike Month in May

Sunday, May 4, CHP Redwood City and Menlo Park Police Department kicked off Bike Month in May with a Bike Rodeo safety event!

The event took place at Flood Park in Menlo Park. Police officers from CHP Redwood City and the Menlo Park Police Department taught over 40 children bike safety skills and rules of the road. Many community members and organizations joined the celebration to provide resources to the residents.

The Menlo Park Safe Routes to School program distributed free kid helmets, donated by Safe Kids Santa Clara San Mateo, and provided free bike tune-ups offered by Bay Area Bike Mobile. Children decorated their new helmets and learned helmet fitting tips while Bay Area Bike Mobile repaired about 20 bikes.
