Landlord/property manager resources

Before the start of a tenancy and/or lease renewal of a rental unit, owner must provide tenant(s) with information regarding tenant rights and responsibilities, including the city's 12-month lease ordinance.

In addition, landlords and property manager must ensure they are keeping up to date with notifications required by the state that must also be provided to tenants.  For more information about this, please refer to the California Tenants’ Handbook which was last updated in 2020.

12-month lease ordinance for landlords

Landlords are obligated to notify tenants of the 12 month lease ordinance and offer a minimum lease term.

Rent limits and just cause eviction protections

Landlords must follow rent limits and just cause eviction protections provided by state law.

Tenant relocation assistance ordinance

In 2019, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1053 adding a tenant relocation assistance requirement to the municipal code.
