Transportation Data

The City uses a range of data sources to support transportation planning and transportation system development, including:

  • Multimodal counts - the City collects counts on select streets and intersections every other year
  • Traffic speeds - the City collects data on the speed of traffic on a subset of streets included in the bi-annual count
  • Traffic collisions - the City's open data portal includes calls for service, traffic stops, collisions, citations, and other data

Average daily traffic counts map

The City of Menlo Park collects traffic volume data biennially on all arterial and collector streets within the city. The traffic volume data includes Average Daily Traffic counts, which represent the total number of vehicles traveling through a given location in both directions over a 24-hour period. Counts are not collected during holidays, school breaks, or adverse weather conditions.

To view the most recent average daily traffic counts collected for a specific street, use the interactive traffic counts map
