Feb. 23 - 8 p.m. Power outage update
Published on February 23, 2023
More wind and rain expected this evening
The National Weather Service expects additional winds with gusts of 20-30 mph after 4 p.m. This could bring additional downed trees or branches and potential impacts to powerlines.
PG&E reported another 20 additional crews were brought into the San Francisco Peninsula area today to continue power restoration. In addition, they coordinated with the California Highway Patrol to temporarily shut down traffic on Highway 101 and reconnect lines that were damaged by the recent windstorm.
Residents are encouraged to continue to track outages and expected restoration times on PG&E's Outage Center map online.
City Council emergency meeting on ongoing power outages
The City Council held an emergency meeting today at 5 p.m., to discuss and provide direction to staff regarding the recent PG&E power outages resulting from the recent windstorm and the associated health, safety and welfare risks.
You can view the meeting recording on the City's YouTube Channel.
City offers reimbursement for one-night hotel stay to those affected by ongoing power outages
Earlier today the City announced a program to offer vouchers for one-night hotel stays for those affected by ongoing power outages. The City has been processing requests in the order in which they are received. But due to extreme demand, the City can no longer guarantee a room in a local hotel for which the City will be directly billed. Therefore, the program has changed to a reimbursement program.
The City will reimburse residents for up to $400 for a qualifying one-night hotel stay between Feb. 23-24. Eligible residents must live in an area with a current and confirmed PG&E power outage. Those seeking to make a reimbursement request will be able to use the online reimbursement request form to submit their hotel bills, proof of residency, names of people who stayed in the hotel, etc. as outlined in the hotel reimbursement policy after they book their own rooms. Reimbursement claims must be submitted by 5 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023.
