Menlo Park Community Campus naming process restarts Sept. 18

Published on September 16, 2023

Sept. 18, the Parks and Recreation Commission and Library Commission will hold a special joint public meeting to restart the multi-step process set by City Council to identify potential names for a new multi-service public facility now under construction at 100 Terminal Avenue.

The new facility will feature 37,000 square feet of floor space on two levels, and will incorporate a public gymnasium, senior center, branch library, aquatics center, youth center (school-age child care), fitness center, makerspace, meeting rooms and event hall, among other features. The new facility is an all-electric, zero combustion, net zero energy project with onsite renewable energy generation, battery microgrid and electric vehicle charging stations and its structural design is resilient to serve as an emergency shelter. The project is currently on track for completion in 2024. When completed, the new facility will be owned and operated by City of Menlo Park for the community.

Visit the project webpage to learn more and take a virtual tour.

The purpose of the Sept. 18 meeting is to hear input from the community and review the multi-step process set by City Council for selecting names and/or dedications for the new facility. The Sept.18 meeting will begin a new four-week public comment period for Menlo Park residents to offer their feedback and suggestions. No decisions about specific names will be made at the Sept. 18 meeting.

It is important to hear what the community thinks and values. Public comments are welcome at Parks and Recreation Commission and Library Commission meetings.
