Upcoming Water Main Replacement Project for Continental Drive
Published on April 15, 2024
The Water Main Replacement Project is a continuous project in the City of Menlo Park that involves changing old pipelines that are nearing the end of their useful life. By replacing old water mains, the City aims to improve water quality and maintain a safe water system for the community.
The Continental Drive Water Main Replacement Project will replace approximately 2,170 linear feet of 12-inch asbestos cement (AC) pipe with 12-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) on Continental Drive between Monte Rosa Drive and Tioga Drive. The City has contracted with Casey Construction, Inc. to perform the work. The project will begin in May and will last approximately four to six months.
Residents on this segment of Continental Drive will receive notifications two weeks and 72 hours prior to the start of construction. Residents will also receive a notification at least 48 hours prior to temporary water service disruption. Traffic control signage and detour signs will be placed along Continental Drive during construction. Residents will have driveway and pedestrian access at all times, as well as access for garbage pick-up, mail and deliveries. Continental Drive will be closed in two phases to all other through traffic during construction hours (weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). We strongly advise residents in the community to prepare for delays and consider alternate routes.
