Free water saving fixtures and toolkits available for residents
Published on September 09, 2024
Menlo Park Municipal Water offers its residential and commercial customers free water-saving fixtures to reduce water usage and save on utility bills. If you are unsure who your water provider is, use the City of Menlo Park’s Interactive Water Providers Map to find out. These fixtures reduce water usage by aerating the water that comes out from the faucet. An aerator is a device that mixes air with the water that comes from the tap. This reduces the amount of water that passes through the tap, but the water pressure remains the same.
Free water saving fixtures:
- Bathroom sink aerator – uses 1 gallon per minute
- Kitchen sink aerator – uses 1.5 gallons per minute
- Low-flow shower head – uses 1.5 gallons per minute
- Adjustable garden hose attachment
Residential self-audit toolkits:
Menlo Park also offers free residential self audit toolkits which include useful tools to help you identify leaks and save even more water. The toolkit contains:
- A leak detection dye tablet
- A flow rate test bag
- Various water-saving fixtures
The leak detection dye tablet is used by dropping the tablet in the back of your toilet tank. If the water in the toilet bowl begins to turn blue after 15 minutes of not flushing, your toilet is likely leaking and you may need to replace some parts.
