Every year, cities across the nation celebrate the positive impacts that public works departments have on improving the quality of life of many communities. This year’s theme is “People, Purpose, Presence.”
Public Works is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the City’s public infrastructure, including streets, water, stormwater systems, public buildings, the City’s fleet, trees, parks and traffic signals. The Department’s mission is to maintain and improve Menlo Park’s public infrastructure in an efficient and sustainable manner for the health and safety of the community.
At the May 13 City Council meeting, the City Council proclaimed the week of May 18–24 as National Public Works Week and asked that the public recognize the invaluable contributions of these dedicated professionals, as they continually strive to improve the quality of life for us all.
