The City will begin construction of the El Camino Real Crossing Improvement project this week, which is scheduled from Aug. 25–Oct. 31. The project will install intersection upgrades at El Camino Real and Ravenswood/Menlo Avenues to promote pedestrian safety and improve connectivity to Menlo Park’s Caltrain Station and downtown corridor.

On June 10, the City Council awarded the Project’s construction contract to Zara Construction. The scope of work generally includes new curb ramps, concrete bulb-outs, medians, asphalt spot repairs, pedestrian and traffic signal modifications, high visibility crosswalks (at all crossings) and other signing and striping improvements.

Major construction activities will be performed during night-time hours (typically from 9 p.m.–6 a.m.) to minimize disruption to traffic and businesses. The work will require partial lane closures and detours, and traffic controls will be enforced at all times for public safety. Additional information and construction updates can be found on the project webpage. We appreciate the public’s patience during the construction of this critical improvement.
