Catalytic converter etching program

Menlo Park and cities nationwide have seen a rise in the theft of catalytic converters from vehicle exhaust systems. Etching your catalytic converter with a serial number can help combat catalytic converter thefts by dissuading thieves from stealing it. It will also aid the police in returning your catalytic converter to you if it is recovered after being stolen.

We have collaborated with Menlo Atherton Auto Repair to offer residents this etching service at a reduced rate. You must be a Menlo Park resident to qualify for this reduced rate. You must fill out an application to participate. If approved, our staff member will reach out to you with a form that you will present to the auto shop for the discounted rate. Please note that etching your catalytic converter does not guarantee your converter will not be stolen or guarantee recovery if it is stolen. It is an added layer of protection so that if it is stolen it can be identified as belonging to your vehicle, which could result in recovery and potential prosecution of the person(s) in possession of your catalytic converter.
