The Menlo Park Fire District has opened registrations for its September 2025 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy. The CERT program provides community members with hands-on training in basic disaster preparedness, fire extinguisher usage, disaster medical care, first aid training, search and rescue techniques, as well as neighborhood team building.

The course is free. Learn more and register.

The next Academy starts Sept. 11 and includes six sessions through Oct. 11. The first five sessions are Thursdays 6-9 p.m. at 300 Middlefield Rd. The last session will be held Saturday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. at 2470 Pulgas Ave., East Palo Alto.

You must attend all sessions to graduate as a CERT member. If you need to miss a session, there are options for making it up.

Class size is limited, and registration is required. The minimum age to attend is 18 years old.

Menlo Park Fire District also offers additional classes in first aid and disaster preparedness. Learn more by viewing their calendar of trainings.
