Walk with us Nov. 17 to celebrate Ruby Bridges’ courageous legacy and to show support for social justice, equity and inclusion in our schools.

Starting this fall, California will celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day statewide thanks to the tremendous efforts of students from South San Francisco. This year, Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day will be observed Nov. 17. At the national level, the Ruby Bridges Foundation declared Nov. 17, 2021, as the first National Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day with the goal of continuing the journey to end racism and all forms of bullying.

The City of Menlo Park is proud to celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day again this year. The Menlo Park Safe Routes to School program encourages all schools and families to participate in the event.

All students are invited to complete the Ruby Bridges quiz to enter a raffle to win a $10 gift certificates to Sport Basement or Kepler’s Books Store and email pictures of their walk to the Safe Routes to School program.

Register your school and celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day!

Also as part of the celebration, the Safe Routes to School program will be distributing free kid bike helmets in front of Belle Haven School, from 1:10–3 p.m.
