Menlo Park Police create bike safety videos
Published on December 07, 2022
Behind the Badge is a video series in collaboration with Academy of Art University in San Francisco that offers a behind-the-scenes look into the Police Department. The 24 videos are available online, and provide information about the department’s traffic patrol and bike patrol, as well as in-depth conversations with police personnel about their personal experience working in the Menlo Park community. Watch these videos and learn about bike safety from one of our sergeant’s and about hand signals when biking.
The Police Department can also create custom videos for individual schools. After receiving many calls from concerned residents about children’s biking safety, Officer Andrew Brunicardi, the Menlo Park School Resource Officer, worked with Oak Knoll Elementary to create a video on biking safety tips. Officer Brunicardi reminds Oak Knoll Otters how to properly enter and exit the school campus, ride in the direction of traffic, and stop at stop signs. He also covers how and when to use hand signals. Officer Brunicardi mentioned he will continue to develop videos like this one if other schools are interested.
