New resources to teach bike safety
Published on February 07, 2023
Whether you are a parent who would like to review some bicycling safety tips with your child or a teacher curious to discover new resources on bike safety, the website Bikes and Bricks has you covered.
Sonia Elkes, founder of the local bike-advocacy group San Carlos Bikes, has started to develop in 2020 a whole bike and pedestrian education toolkit with Lego. With the help of the Palo Alto Safe Routes to School Coordinator, she created a customizable slidedeck named Street Smart: A Student’s Guide to Smart Biking, along with other presentations on pedestrian safety.
Over a 100 scenes and safety tips are illustrated with Lego. The presentation can be shared and adapted to other communities. Visit the Bikes and Bricks website to see all the materials.
