Caltrain to hold hearing on proposed fare and fare structure changes

The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, which operates Caltrain, will be holding a public hearing Monday, Aug. 28 at 2:30 p.m. to discuss changes to Caltrain’s fare structure. The public is invited to provide comments and participate in the virtual meeting via Zoom or by phone.
The hearing will discuss changes to Caltrain’s fare structure including the following:
• Fare increases in upcoming years.
• Extending participation in the Clipper START discount program.
• Accepting open payments with the release of the next generation Clipper 2.0 system.
• Participating in a regional transfer discount pilot program on Clipper 2.0.
• Changes to the Go Pass program including price reductions and opening the program to students, affordable housing.
• Reducing minimum group size for group travel discounts.
