Middle Avenue buffered bike lane pilot status and Nov. 8 meeting
Published on November 06, 2023
The City is pleased to announce that the Middle Avenue buffered bike lanes pilot is now fully installed!
Through this effort, the City converted the existing perpendicular parking spaces in front of Nealon Park to parallel parking spaces. Outside of the Nealon Park frontage parking area, no parking zones on both sides of Middle Avenue has been established using signage. Parking enforcement will begin in the near future.
Early next year, staff will collect traffic data and conduct project specific outreach meetings to gather input on the pilot. Final findings will be presented to the City's decision-making bodies (e.g. Complete Streets Commission and City Council) for a recommendation on next steps. During the pilot, staff will also be completing the design of the traffic calming improvements included in the project.
Nov. 8, staff will present proposed pilot data collection locations and methodology to the City's Complete Streets Commission.
